Ran across this video above and had to share it. 210 hours over a full year is what it took Miguel Endara to draw this portrait of his father. Just imagine the patience and determination it takes to create a drawing like this out of 3.2 million dots. Miguel filmed himself in every section of the drawing and arrived at an average of 4.25 dots per second which allowed him to determine the total dots. Besides the incredible commitment to his craft, what is amazing is how realistic the final drawing appears. I have to say also that the video itself is extremely well put together and all done by Miguel using a Cannon EOS Rebel, Adobe After Effects and camera dolly/sliders made with pvc pipes and rubber wheels from the hardware store. Impressive all around.
I happened to find the video below at the same time and though I would include it here for a little extra enjoyment. Details: Google Street View stop motion animation short made as a personal project by director Tom Jenkins. Story: A lonely desk toy longs for escape from the dark confines of the office, so he takes a cross country road trip to the Pacific Coast in the only way he can – using a toy car and Google Maps Street View. All screen imagery was animated – there are no screen replacements.
